behind callejera + special guest creative
This past weekend, Kalei and I took a trip to
San Francisco, San Luis Potosi located in Mexico. Below are our experiences and what drove the inspiration for callejera.
Favorite food while there: Tacos, duh.
Best part of the day: The night because it was windy and cool.
Most memorable moments: Saturday, my dad had a cow killed the day before, and we ate carnitas(sooo good, yall are missing out). There was a few men there that had horses attached to a pole nearby. One of the horses was a blondie, and the ranchero let me pet and ride it. Last time I rode a horse, I cried. Not one of my best moments, but this time, it was so much fun.
On Sunday, we went to the Paroles-- which is a swimming hole located in the middle of nowhere-- and the water was so clear and had a natural current that ran west. The coolest part was that we were swimming with tiny little fish. I SWAM WITH FISH!!!

Chelsea: I knew, before I stepped foot outside of San Luis Potosi, that I was there to be inspired and to hold onto as many memories as I could. I wanted to be a sponge. Soak in the scenery. Soak in the air. Soak in the people. We took time to do a mini fashion shoot, because we couldn't resist. It even attracted many people in the streets, because they have never seen some girl strolling in heels in the middle of the day posing in front of cactus and houses. We had the perfect scenery and I have a gorgeous sister. We also had help from our cousin, Roxy, and she was such a great help, and I hope we inspired her and that she could see that we loved what we did, and how the roots of who we are still remain with us.
Favorite food while there: Fresh eggs, salsa, and homemade tortillas from my aunt Goya.

Most memorable moments: Just the feeling of having my Dad around and to hear his voice was something I missed. The most memorable moment was sitting on the back of the truck, being happy -- and sunburned-- and being all together.

mexico essentials • nosotros vamos (our trip)
Sorry, it was 2 am Friday morning, April 18th
and I was trying to get a post in before I went incognito in Mexico.
I realized that I didn't write a short snippet of what I chose to bring and why I needed these.
1. ∆ MOST IMPORTANT ∆ My MacBook.
Do you know how much free time I have sitting in the airport and during each flight? It's amazing I had at least 9+ hours of computer/design time!
It was much needed to say the least.
2. GUESS snakeskin backpack.
I needed something with lots of room and zippers. I had a pouch for makeup, and pouch for my license and a little bit of cash for snacks and souvenirs, and a magazine. So making sure I could access my passport and tickets quickly was a must.
3. Moisturizer and Dry Shampoo.
I don't know about you, but I need something to feel refreshed half-way through my trip.
(Both were 1 oz. so that was very convenient)
4. Magazines and books.
My choice of magazine was The Hunger issue four,
because I using it for inspiration for my portfolio. I also had a vogue beauty book to help with planning my print piece.
What are your favorite essentials?

my muse // keepin' it cool and simple
I know it has been a while since you have heard from me,
and yes... I am still alive, and I am back.
So, to kick the blog back up into gear,
here is a classic post of my muses //
The muses for april follow the theme of "keepin it cool and simple".
1. keeping everything clean and organized
2. silhouettes are flowing, over-sized, and simple cuts
3. sandals in neutral colors that have this effortless style to them (I have to admit, that I do have two pairs of sandals similiar to these.)
Overall, the colors are cool and soft--
with hues of light blues, greens, and grays.
Beauty wise, everything from hair + makeup is al naturál
and bold brows are definitely in!
