my muse • heavy knits

With colder weather coming in, our heavier knits come out.
Through mixing the textures and thickness of knits layered with staple pieces, it creates a contrast with the varies weights.

behind callejera + special guest creative

This past weekendKalei and I took a trip to
San Francisco, San Luis Potosi located in Mexico. Below are our experiences and what drove the inspiration for callejera.

Kalei: The main reason for my trip to San Fran was to visit my dad and family, who are born natives of the area. However, the second part of my bliss when leaving, was seeing the beautiful surroundings Mexico has to offer our world. It is filled with so many unbelievably beautiful textures and bold colors. I am so thankful to be able to have the short time and opportunity to capture these moments we had and to be able to share with you the inspiration and motivation behind callejera.

Favorite food while there: Tacos, duh.

Best part of the day: The night because it was windy and cool.

Most memorable moments: Saturday, my dad had a cow killed the day before, and we ate carnitas(sooo good, yall are missing out). There was a few men there that had horses attached to a pole nearby. One of the horses was a blondie, and the ranchero let me pet and ride it. Last time I rode a horse, I cried. Not one of my best moments, but this time, it was so much fun.
On Sunday, we went to the Paroles-- which is a swimming hole located in the middle of nowhere-- and the water was so clear and had a natural current that ran west. The coolest part was that we were swimming with tiny little fish. I SWAM WITH FISH!!!

Chelsea: I knew, before I stepped foot outside of San Luis Potosi, that I was there to be inspired and to hold onto as many memories as I could. I wanted to be a sponge. Soak in the scenery. Soak in the air. Soak in the people. We took time to do a mini fashion shoot, because we couldn't resist. It even attracted many people in the streets, because they have never seen some girl strolling in heels in the middle of the day posing in front of cactus and houses. We had the perfect scenery and I have a gorgeous sister. We also had help from our cousin, Roxy, and she was such a great help, and I hope we inspired her and that she could see that we loved what we did, and how the roots of who we are still remain with us.

Favorite food while there: Fresh eggs, salsa, and homemade tortillas from my aunt Goya.

Best part of the day: The morning. Every night, we left the door open to our bedroom to let in the cool air. In the morning, I woke up to the most peaceful and serene landscape. It was breathtaking and I felt whole and so small, but it was such a great feeling.

Most memorable moments: Just the feeling of having my Dad around and to hear his voice was something I missed. The most memorable moment was sitting on the back of the truck, being happy -- and sunburned-- and being all together.

mexico essentials • nosotros vamos (our trip)

Sorry, it was 2 am Friday morning, April 18th
and I was trying to get a post in before I went incognito in Mexico.
I realized that I didn't write a short snippet of what I chose to bring and why I needed these.

1. ∆ MOST IMPORTANT ∆ My MacBook.
Do you know how much free time I have sitting in the airport and during each flight? It's amazing I had at least 9+ hours of computer/design time!
It was much needed to say the least.

2. GUESS snakeskin backpack.
I needed something with lots of room and zippers. I had a pouch for makeup, and pouch for my license and a little bit of cash for snacks and souvenirs, and a magazine. So making sure I could access my passport and tickets quickly was a must.

3. Moisturizer and Dry Shampoo.
I don't know about you, but I need something to feel refreshed half-way through my trip.
(Both were 1 oz. so that was very convenient)

4. Magazines and books.
My choice of magazine was The Hunger issue four,
because I using it for inspiration for my portfolio. I also had a vogue beauty book to help with planning my print piece.

What are your favorite essentials?

my muse // keepin' it cool and simple

I know it has been a while since you have heard from me,
and yes... I am still alive, and I am back.

So, to kick the blog back up into gear,
here is a classic post of my muses //

The muses for april follow the theme of "keepin it cool and simple".
1. keeping everything clean and organized
2. silhouettes are flowing, over-sized, and simple cuts
3. sandals in neutral colors that have this effortless style to them (I have to admit, that I do have two pairs of sandals similiar to these.)

Overall, the colors are cool and soft--
with hues of light blues, greens, and grays.
Beauty wise, everything from hair + makeup is al naturál
and bold brows are definitely in!

my muse // 21 life lessons

Since tomorrow is my 21st birthday--
I want to share these twenty-one life lessons so far
that I have learned growing up these lovely 21 years of life.

All these things I have discovered
through living out in the real world.
Dealing with relationships,
trying to find who you are,
and even how to get through the good days and bad ones.
this is the advice I'd give to those going through
the ups and downs of life.

my muse // tranquility

february is always hectic and in fast-forward mode.
it's already almost halfway over, and we just started it.
this month is filled with great days,
valentine's day, and mine + valentin's birthday--
all within a week.

during all this business gearing up next week,
I have to remember to stay calm + tranquil
and to soak in every moment.

here are my muses for the week,
soft coral, pretty repetitive patterns,
and imperfect perfectness.

27 January 2015

in movement // oversized

find the two-two wrap jacket here:

in movement // new series

I'm happy to announce a new series, 'in movement'.

Because fashion is constantly changing,
evolving and even sometimes repeating the same trend.
One thing remains the same: it is always in movement.

This series serves to show trends--
whether fashion, beauty, or culture, and, of course,
to inspire you.

21 January 2015

style of the week // wrapped up, all in red, and prim + proper

Stay warm in style with blanket coats/ponchos/'wraps'.
They can be found in multiple prints + patterns,
and look great paired with neutrals and minimal wardrobes.

Another hit this winter is an all red outfit.
From shirt to heels. This one color sparks the sultry
nature within and looks great on anyone.

Lastly, is the shirt-dress.
The prim + proper style is always a classic and minimal look.
Sold in neutral colors, mostly found in white
--like the traditional dress shirt.
It has masculine features, but paired with the right accessories,
it will be a hit transitioning into the spring//

Which style will you try?

20 January 2015

my muse // blush pink + romantic motions

Nothing says winter desiring spring like the hue
of blush and soft, romantic textures.
Blush is warm and delicate, and has the personality of
being light-hearted + passionate.
It is my go-to color when I'm feeling
extremely feminine and romantic.

The waves of their hair, the fluid of the texture,
or even the silhouettes of their garments also adds to that mood.
Soft, flowy fabrics have always been known to form romantic silhouettes that flatter any body type,
and for that reason, is why so many women love the looks.

***Also this week, I have found interest in white eyeliner,
and the benefits it adds to making the eyes look bigger and more appealing by applying it to your waterline. Pick up some today at any beauty or even drug store.

09 January 2015

my muse // marbleous

the weekend is finally here,
and it sure has been a chilly week.
so i thought my muses would derive from this
cold, hard texture and colors.
this week i am inspired by
(and slightly obsessed with)...
you guessed it, marble.

i chose these hard, graduating textures that resemble ice,
and even have the cool blues, tough blacks, and icy whites.
many of you know i tend to lean towards neutral colors
like hues of blacks and whites, however marble adds that
assumed glassy and rough texture.

in the pictures above,i really liked the dynamic of the two toned marble skirt and blouse, the beauty of the marble laptop cover, the effortless design of the marble inspired ring, and even the phone case. I see that i used a lot of technology accessory pieces.. oh well.. needless to say, i'll take three of each! i can't forget the hair. it's the key piece to tie it all in. when you think of marble. you think of abstract lines, jagged pieces, and imperfectness. that's exactly what i thought of when i see this updo, distraught, but just as equally beautiful.

happy weekend + get inspired//

rebranding // addie k.

happy tuesday, readers!
i'd like to share with you the project

addie k. patterns.

my inspiration came from her old logo, with the cool blues.
I also included fun, handwritten fonts
to go with her website style.
the textures and patterns also served as inspiration.
the watercolor and simplistic style.
my goal is for the logos and submarks
to be clean and simplistic.
